Imaginary North was established in May 2022 as a label for exciting and unusual ambient music. Beginning with its flagship Imaginary North Transmission series, the label has been able to work with more than 150 different artists over the course of its short career.

In June 2023, the label released the 24-hour-long compilation Today Until Tomorrow, which raised money for environmental charity Music Declares Emergency.

Imaginary North shares all of its releases on Bandcamp as well as all streaming services, focusing on artist-friendly pay structures, with a focus on increasing exposure and awareness of musicians from within the Greater Toronto Area and the world.
